FRANK SULLOWAY, a science historian at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT), will speak at Binghamton University on Thursday, November 20, 1997 in the Chamber Hall of the Anderson Center.  Dr. Sulloway has studied the effect of birth order on personality for over twenty years.  His recent book, Born to Rebel, has been featured in Newsweek magazine (October 7, 1996 issue, p.68) and in USA Weekend magazine.  It has been called a "monumental work of scholarship" by anthropologist Sarah Blaffer Hrdy, became a non-fiction bestseller in hardback and is now available in paperback.

Dr. Sulloway's presentation is sponsored by Science Across the Curriculum, Binghamton University's program to encourage science literacy among all students.  One way this is accomplished is by providing special events which cross departmental lines and interest students and faculty from a wide variety of departments and disciplines.

We are sure this lecture will be beneficial and thought-provoking for students in many different fields.  Dr. Sulloway's presentation will be especially valuable to anyone interested in families and human interaction, such as teachers, business managers, historians, negotiators, sociologists and public policy makers.

The talk is free with a reception to follow.  For more information please contact Hilton Baxter at the Center for Learning and Teaching at 777-6379 (x6379).
